Dickens on the Strand, an annual Victorian-era festival is celebrating 50 years this weekend December, 1-3 in Galveston, Texas. This ever popular festival marks the beginning of the Christmas holiday season on the island while showcasing the rich Victorian cultural heritage. Dickens on the Strand is a fun nostalgic event based on the popular novel, A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens features street performances, live entertainment, food, shopping and much more.

dress up in Victorian era clothing. Clothing rental services are available on the festival grounds for those who want to participate or make a statement. Additionally, there are several popular restaurants located on the Strand inside and just adjacent to the holiday festival.
