The definition of an angel is “A spiritual being acting as an attendant, agent, or messenger of God.” As a collective group, angels in the Bible are referred to as a “heavenly host” (Luke 2:13), but only a few angels of the Bible are mentioned by name.
The messenger angel, Gabriel, is a very timely angel to study during the holidays. Most specifically, during Christmas, Gabriel is remembered for announcing the approaching birth of Christ (Luke 1:26-38). Messages of wisdom and good tidings came from Gabriel who was an angel of high rank that spoke the direct word of God.
